Payout Guide

mentor.sh uses Stripe Connect as the active payout method for mentors. This guide covers how to connect Stripe, what to expect from payouts, and how payment-related statements are handled.

Stripe Connect

When a mentee pays for a booking, the related funds are recorded in Stripe and routed through your connected Stripe account. Stripe typically processes payouts within 7 days. Some countries benefit from accelerated payouts (3 days) or even instant payouts.

Example Breakdown:

• Mentor's Rate: $100
• Platform Fee (20%): -$20
• Stripe Fee (approximately 2.9% + $0.30): -$3.20
• Final Payout: $76.80

Note: The platform fee is added on top of the mentor's rate and paid by the mentee. Stripe fees are deducted before the final payout reaches your account.

Important Notes

• Fee Transparency: All fees are clearly detailed in your payout statements.
• Payout Method Selection: Connect Stripe in your mentor dashboard to activate payouts.
• Currency Considerations: Stripe may apply currency conversion or transfer fees depending on your account and country.
• Legacy Payments: Older payouts and statements may still reference historical payment methods, but new payouts use Stripe only.
